Emily and Paul went and saw Canada play the US tonight at BC Place. Unfortunately Canada lost 4-0. The American team was just a little bit stronger and faster but I know Canada is going to put up one hell of a fight in London! Go Canada Go!
Love how Emily captured a picture of Christine Sinclaire!

Day 28 of 365+1 January 28, 2012
My POTD for today is what my desk looks like at this very moment. This is somewhere I spend a lot of time. It's where I create and where I like to play!

Day 26 of 365+1 January 26, 2012
Today my baby coloured her hair for the first time. I suppose as a mom I should be happy that she didn't want to die it purple or some wild crazy colour right? I just know how much I spend on my highlights and hair colour and once you start you're in for the long haul so why start so young when your hair is already gorgeous? Surely there are better things to spend your babysitting money on? Alright, ok, I suppose I too wanted to lighten my hair when I was her age! lol
So here's the funny....my daughter wanted to get "ombre" hair. Say what? Well, take a look at Drew Barrymore's hair lately. Honesty, I've been seeing this style more and more lately and every time, thought to myself, Good Lord woman, time to do your roots! Now it all makes sense. Those dark roots are on purpose! lol And, they're suppose to be several inches long! Anyway, for the first time I felt like not the hip and cool mom I always thought I was when the hair stylist set me straight! Who knew?!
Here's my POTD, my girl with foil in her hair, just like her momma lol
And, the end result...
Thanks for stopping by!

Day 25 of 365+1 January 25, 2012
Trying to keep my little birdies well fed during this cold rainy season. Today's prompt over at Create Your 365 is "An Intention/A Goal/A Purpose. I also incorporated my One Little Word for 2012 this year in this photo, Nourish. I love how focusing on this word and being reminded of it reminds me to focus and always brings me back to my goals for this year.

Day 23 of 365+1 January 23, 2012
I had to go visit Emily's Science teacher today and capturing any photos of her in high school now is very rare so I seized the moment and captured this one of her at her locker.

Day 20 of 365+1 January 20, 2012
I've been noticing a lot of photos of little Lego people on Capture Your 365 so thought I would try my take on it. It's kinda fun and I think I'll be doing this again for sure!

Day 18 of 365+1 January 18, 2012
Here's my girl filming herself making muffins. Ok, so she may not take after her mother scrapbooking wise, but I think she's definitely got a knack for taking photos. She's really quite creative. You'll see. I'm sure I'll be posting a few photos from her that will be my POTD this year.

Day 17 0f 365+1 January 17, 2012
I felt like I needed a little something cheery on my desk today at work so I picked up these pretty pink baby roses on my lunch break and cut the stems really short so they would fit in my favourite little square vase that my friend Whitney gave me. Aren't they pretty?

This photos marks the first day of Week 3 of Project 365+1 and Link Up Day over at Between the Lines. Scroll up to see the rest of my week 3 and be sure to check out Between the Lines for some more fun photos.
On my way home from work today, I spotted this little red bicycle in a tree. It had to be my POTD. I wonder how it got up there!

Day 14 of 365+1 January 14, 2012
When I read Katrina's prompt for today over at Your Project "365, Words/A Dictionary/A Meaning in
Photos" I thought of the perfect photo and the perfect memory of my
daughter at 13 and her love for the young talented singer Greyson
Chance. This will be a great photo to have in my Project 365+1 album!

Day 13 of 365+1 January 13, 2012
Well. for my Friday the 13th Photo of the Day, I chose to use Capture Your 365's prompt "a black cat/ walking under a ladder/a broken mirror" and photographed our beautiful kitty with my new 50 mm lens. I really LOVE being able to get these crisp close ups with the blurred background!
Hope you all had a good Friday the 13th! Thanks for stopping by.

Day 12 of 365+1 January 12, 2012
Today's photos is me experimenting with my new 50 mm lens...
I also read today about Take Twelve. On the twelfth day of each month, you take 12 photos. At the end of the year, you'll have 144 fabulous photos that represent an average day in your life. Today, I took the following photos. This will be January's page in my 2012 12 x 12 album. Can't wait to do this layout!

Day 11 of 365+1 January 11, 2012
I discovered this soup at Choices the other day and it is now my absolute favourite! Ok, so the staff where I work thought I was a little weird when I propped the box up on the window sill in the staffroom and took a photo. It prompted a whole new conversation though! lol

Day 10 of 365+1 January 10, 2012
My POTD is of my little hippopotamus collection I seem to have acquired that sits on my desk at work. It started out innocently enough with the little blue pencil sharpener hippo and then I received the little pink one from my dear friend Diane and so I thought, well now I just have to start collecting them! My sweet friend Jacquie at work then gave me the large soapstone one. Aren't they cute?!

My POTD today is of my One Little Word. I'm following Ali Edward's One Little Word project and as you'll see below, My One Little Word for 2012 is...

Between the Lines
Every Sunday is link up day over at Between the Lines by Laura. My Project 365+1 is a little different as I'm going to try and post every day, I think I'll be able to keep on track better that way. Check out some other Project 365+1 participants by clicking here.

Week 1 Layout
As I said earlier, I'll be using my Smash journal to save my Project 365+1 photos in and only plan to embellish my pages a little bit. My goal is to get them in my journal this year so I don't want it to become too much of a daunting task. So far, so good, here's week 1. Thanks for stopping by!
Day 7 of 365+1 January 7, 2012
My Saturday morning perspective...
Emily and I lounged today and watched an afternoon movie together. In the evening, I played in my studio and created another mixed media painting.

Day 5 of 365+1 January 5, 2012
Today's prompt over at Capture Your 365 is "to determine/to transform/to commit". I thought it was a perfect prompt for my POTD as I've committed myself to getting back in shape, getting healthy and losing weight. This was my breaky this morning. The pink grapefruit was delish!
p.s. as my dear friend Izzy pointed out, this is a leap year so I've changed my posts to 365+1. Thanks Izzy!

Day 4 of 365 - Janyary 4, 2012
Clearly I have a lot to learn about photography. I used today's Capture Your 365's prompt again for my POTD "the flower mode/a small f/number/a blurred background". I have no problem using the macro setting, I've used it a lot on my point and shoot, but when I played around with my aperture on manual mode I wasn't able to get as close up to my subject as I could using my macro setting and when I did achieve a smaller depth of field or f number, my camera wouldn't let me shoot. I could focus but it just wouldn't shoot. If I pulled back I could, but then the f number got higher as I adjusted my focus. I'm going to have to take a photography course as I hate having to keep going back to my book.
I also noticed the shutter speed change at times during this experiment. I want to ask questions and have them answered now! lol Anyway, the whole aperture is confusing enough in itself but I think I'm starting to get my head around it, the larger the number, the larger the depth of field, the smaller the number, the smaller the DOF. I just have to figure out how to get it to work the way I want it to. Or as I'm sure as most of you are thinking, no, YOU just have to figure out how it works and use it the right way! I'll get it. As I said in an earlier post, I'm committed to this project and my goal of becoming a better photographer and I've got the whole year to do it. It'll be interesting to look back on these earlier posts and hopefully see how far I've come. Oh, and by the way, I chose this little guy as my subject because he reminded me of my most favourite dog to dogsit, Winnie. Those of you who know me I'm sure will see the resemblance.

Day 3 of 365 - January 3, 2012
I was going to post a picture today of this beautiful long haired black cat that wandered into my office from outside but I left my little point and shoot at work. Duh! Instead, I took a picture of this little fellow with my DSLR instead. His name is Beans, and he's my little teddy bear. Isn't he cute? He's 13 year's old and is one of the teddy bears that my daughter acquired when she was a baby that I had to claim as my own once she outgrew stuffies. Would you be able to part with him? lol

Day 1 of 365 - January 1, 2012
I'm excited to start off my Project 365 blog with my first photo for the year. This isn't my first time doing Project 365. I did it in 2009 using my little Canon point and shoot and managed to take a photo every day for the entire year. I've committed myself to doing the same thing this year using my new Canon Rebel T3. I've always loved photography and through this project I hope to learn about my camera inside and out and expand my knowledge of this wonderful hobby. My second challenge is to actually get my photos scrapped this year. As I said in my previous post, I'll be using my Smash Journal to record my memories and house my photos. I'll post the occasional page of this project here as well. Hope you'll come by and visit. I'll be looking at life in a whole new way!
